If no corresponding diagnosis and treatment items are available for novel medical devices, the procedure for adding diagnosis and treatment items shall be followed for the time being. NHIA is currently deliberating over the feasibility of parallel review of payment proposals for new health technologies and new special devices in order to shorten the timeline to coverage. In addition, with regards to the applicant for addition of diagnosis and treatment items, planning in the future will allow submission of a proposal by medical device permit holders with acquisition of application data from 2 to 3 NHI contract healthcare facilities (include procedure items and related costs for corresponding medical devices) and affixture of the hospital’s official seals (seal of the hospital and that of the person in charge).
